FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is your stance on 2A/ Gun Ownership?
Like many of us in the 8th district, I am a responsible gun owner. I agree with the majority of Americans that we need to keep firearms out of dangerous hands, and keep our families and communities safe; I support comprehensive background checks and safe firearm storage laws.

Where do you stand on abortion?
I don't believe the government should have control over our healthcare decisions, our bodies, or our families. I know that YOU are the best person to make healthcare decisions for YOU and YOUR family, and I stand against government tyranny.

What is your professional background?
For 20 years I have worked to support families and children. I have worked in hospital/healthcare quality improvement, and I have directed multi-state maternal and child health programs to expand healthcare into rural areas.
I have direct-service experience working with families who have children with Autism, I've worked in Early Head Start and with Parents as Teachers, I've served families in pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum as a birth doula and an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

What is your educational experience?
Bachelors of Science in Psychology, a minor in Biology, from Drake University in Iowa.
Master's Degree in Public Health, Community & Family Health, from the University of South Florida.
I am an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant.
Previously certified as: Parent's as Teachers Parent Educator, Birth Doula through DONA International, Certified Lactation Counselor through Healthy Children, LLC.

What will you do for the 8th if elected?
First, I will immediately help our district by bringing our tax dollars back to invest in infrastructure and jobs in the form or earmarks. Our current Congressman doesn't do that, and it is harmful and unfair to our district.
Our offices will begin providing constituent services right away, to help people access resources available to them. I also see a need to provide grant writing trainings to help our district access funding to restore our historic buildings, build infrastructure for small businesses, and provide therapy and services to our residents.
I will direct federal tax dollars into our healthcare infrastructure so we can have better access to care here in our district. I want to pass legislation that supports the practice and care of down-stream care providers such as Nurse Practitioners and Midwives, to increase access to safe and qualified care providers.

I will strengthen farm-to-table programs so our family farms and our communities can benefit from being a farming district.
I will work to have a computer-chip manufacturing facility built here in the 8th (The CHIPS Act passed and there is funding, WE should be a part of that!).
I will work to better fund our schools - we need less reliance on local property taxes and more from our state and federal government.
